James Cook:
1728 -79, British explorer. Officer in the Royal Navy.

On his second voyage of discovery, (1772 - 75), Captain Cook reach the
Antarctic. He also had his entire crew ready for scientific experiments. He was
assigned by the Board of Longitude to compare the accuracy of his position by
the lunar distance method and by using John Harrison's marvelous timepiece.
