Title: Did Captain Cook Dream of Voyages
With No Horizons?
1999 18X22 inches James Cook:
1728 -79, British explorer. Officer in the Royal Navy.
" ...no man will venture further than I have
done... the lands to the south
will never be explored. "
Leading
his second voyage of discovery, Captain Cook searched the waters of
the southern continent. He felt the Antarctic to be sterile, dangerous
and of
no use. During his three great voyages, he gazed nightly at the heavens
above
him. One wonders if the great navigator ever thought of exploring the
stars.
Or were they just points of light which told him where he was on Earth?
