Title: ADMIRAL BYRD; THE HEROMAN
2001 16 X 34 inches

RICHARD E. BYRD
1888 -1957, American explorer, aviator

Admiral Richard E. Byrd and Roald Amundsen were both first to the Pole, but
at different times and using different modes of transportation. In 1929 it
took Byrd 15 hours and 51 minutes, flying, to cover the distance it had taken
Amundsen three months, on foot, seventeen years before him. Through his many
explorations, his innovations, his looks and persona, he became a celebrity. The
time was right. The world need a hero.
